Top Gear For Top Chefs

Everybody roots for the home team and MRCA is no different.  We started out in Calgary, cooking at night and operating a chef apparel business out of the trunks of our cars during the day.

We wouldn’t be around today if it wasn’t for the early and ongoing support of local chefs and restaurants. Needless to say, we were happy to step up when Calgary city mag, Avenue, asked us to outfit six of the city’s top chefs for its annual Best Restaurant Awards issue (March 2016).

The resulting images, by Calgary shooter Jason Stang, are pretty cool. We may have supplied some awesome gear, but it’s being associated with this group of supremely talented chefs that really makes us look good.

What do you need to know about Calgary’s restaurant scene if you’re unfamiliar? When it comes to food this city of a million or so – located where the prairies look up at the foothills and East Slope of Canada’s Rocky Mountains – punches way above its weight.

We’ve been fortunate to have a window seat on a culinary explosion that has seen dozens of new restaurants open up in the last decade, with a slew of national “best new restaurant” awards following in their wake.
