Get Torched At Beakerhead
Collaborative dinners and pop-ups are everywhere, but chances are good this is the first one that’s ever been staged at snow and skateboarding lab.
‘Torched’ is part of Beakerhead, an annual smashup of science, art and engineering that takes over Calgary for a week each September. This year’s edition, with events across the city, runs Sept. 14 – 18. The collaborative dinner is slated for Sept 14 at The Compound, a warehouse-come-training- space/hangout run by Riders Onboard Snowboard Club.
The dinner brings together a crew of six of Calgary’s most creative chefs, including MRCA’s own Chef Cam, who is threatening to produce steak tartar with an axe! Diners will be actively involved, chipping prawns from an ice block with their own little pick, for example, and picking ‘cans’ of a vegetable dish off a conveyor belt.
In addition to Chef Cam (Kensington Brasserie, Wine Bar, and Container Bar) participating chefs include:
- Alison MacNeil - Private Chef
- John Michael MacNeil - The Belvedere
- Kenny Kaechele - Workshop Kitchen + Culture
- Darren Maclean - Shokunin
- Liana Robberecht - Winsport Canada
- Jan Hansen - Hotel Arts
